Catalina Salinas Gamarra
Artist Biography
High mountains and indigenous cultures surrounded my childhood. Born in La Paz, Bolivia; I grew fond of the bright colors and geometrical patterns of Andean textiles as well of the South West of USA.
have inspired my artwork for many years.
My continued curiosity for new cultures, language and design led me to pursue a Master’s degree in Architecture at University of New Mexico. I collaborate with different institutions teaching and offering workshops.
As an artist, my work has been internationally exhibited since 2007 in juried galleries and opened exhibitions. I love fashion, so creating wearable art with unique styles is letting me bring each of the stokes of my brush and oils closer to you.
I’m a permanent member and director of Amapola Gallery and my art studio is located inside The Groove Art Space in Albuquerque New Mexico.
For the past decade I'm been donating artworks to help race founds to educational programs and health institutions.
